Finally, another installment of “random friday!” I must confess that I secretly love all (well, maybe not all) things hipster. I just don’t feel I could really pull it off. I was the girl in high school that didn’t fit in anywhere, but desperately wanted to. One day I’d want to dye my hair black and be a goth (my mom never let me dye my hair, though, so no embarrassing pictures, sorry!), and the next wear a pink polyester button up shirt with daises on it and bell bottoms. I tried hard, but that was the problem. I tried hard. Maybe if I just hadn’t given a crap, I finally would have been cool. My style is still all over the place, but now I just try and dress to flatter my body, not impress the other kids at school. Feeling good in what I’m wearing is what matters most now.
To me, Anthropologie is higher end hipster, and while I don’t like everything they put out, I was pretty excited for their launch of BHLDN wedding dresses. First, though, I had to get over that dumb name. BHLDN, really? Anyway, just like in the store, some of the dresses I liked, and others just weren’t me. I loved the preview of this one…the movement, texture, color, and even her hair, but when I saw the whole thing I thought the pleats were a little much and it just needed a little something else. The color would definitely look good on me, though.
With my skin tone, ivory, champagne, off-white, just does not look good on me. I have to wear pure white, silver, light blue or light pink (my wedding dress was white with silver beading). But, I do like this dress a lot, even though bows aren’t my thing.
What do you think of the BHLDN line? Would you wear one? Which one?
Happy Friday!
Holly Hobson - I would definitely rock the pleated dress and would love to see it in a color. I too like the models hair and might add some dramatic accessory there.
The Bow dress is less structured looking and would not suit my style. Plus I prefer long dress lengths to slightly shorter ones.
