Many of you that have met me or shot with me, I’m sure have noticed the walking cast I’ve been wearing for what feels like forever! Well, one year ago this past weekend I had major foot surgery to remove the two broken sesamoid bones and fuse the big toe joint with a screw, because of a car accident June 2014.
I’ve definitely learned a lot this past year about PATIENCE, expectations (I thought I would be pretty much healed after just a couple months…nope!), and empathy. Not to mention the way the foot functions. This may sound obvious, but you don’t realize how much you rely on each and every tiny bone and tendon for every single step you take. And I mean literally, I’m not trying to be poetic here!
Admittedly, I’ve also been very frustrated at times. Ok, a LOT of times. I used to lift weights 3 days a week, and did cardio, hiking, or yoga 2-3 times a week, and I am really looking forward to being able to do everything I used to, and at the same level. That being said, I’ve shot two whole wedding seasons with “The Boot” on, and I’ve never let myself use it as an excuse not to work hard. I have really amazing clients, and I’m just grateful I get to do what I do!
