In honor of both my “Jessica’s 7″ and “Random Friday,” I thought I’d give a list of some of my favorite FREE or $.99 iPhone apps! I’m always looking, as I’m sure most other iPhone owners are, for new awesome apps to occupy my time waiting in line…at the gas station…when I first wake up. ;) So, let me know if you have some must-haves as well!
Lose It! ~ I know, kind of a boring one to start out with, BUT, I’ve lost 13lbs since I started using it, and it’s free! I can set my goals, see a graph of the weight I’ve lost, and it keeps track of how many calories I’ve eaten and burned through exercise or other activity. I like the layout, and it has a ton of food items and exercises in the there, so I rarely have to look elsewhere for caloric info.
Urbanspoon ~ We’re always looking for new places to eat, and it’s fun to feel like you’re playing a slot machine while deciding where to go. lol We found the BEST restaurant in Seattle using this app this past summer the day after shooting Erin & Erik’s wedding.
Epicurious ~ I’ve used this recipe app to make so many scrumptious meals recently. It’s awesome because you can read the reviews for each recipe, and see how other people liked it. Much better than taking chances with a random recipe in a cookbook! You can also search for specific meals and ingredients.
ShakeItPhoto ~ Of course, since I’m a photographer, I love to see what kind of camera/photography apps there are. This one does a really good job, I think, of turning your picture into a Polaroid. Here’s Calvin at swim lessons…
Pocket God ~ This $.99 app has no real objective, which makes it perfect for killing time. Basically, you act as a sadistic god to the poor pygmies on an island. Plus, they’re always adding new scenarios to keep it interesting.
Lego Photo ~ Another photo one! This one turns your image into a Lego picture, which Calvin just loves and has practically filled up my iPhone with Lego pictures. What little boy wouldn’t want a Lego picture of himself!
Pandora ~ It’s a free iPhone radio where you can choose your favorite artists or songs, and it’ll create a station based on your preferences. So, it’ll play the music you like, and other songs that sound similar. Sometimes it’s nice to branch out instead of listening to the same songs on the iPod on there.
P.S. Sorry I posted this late. I had to rush out this morning to pick up Eli, and we’ve been chasing him around ever since! Here’s a pic of us coming back from a walk to the park. Calvin was tired, so I carried both of them all the way home. Phew!
